After two weeks of work, my grappling hook platformer, STREEMERZ has been completed! The game is based on the Action 52 title of the same name (as part of the ACTION 52 OWNS project that I started), but I’ve taken many, many, many, many liberties with the game.

Really liked the idea and the levels are fun and really hard.
Its a lot more like Bionic commando.

  2. Gilliam Says:

Sweet game. Pretty difficult as well.

  3. James Says:

There must be some mistake. I was under the impression that this was a remake of STREEMERZ, not I Want To Be The Guy.

  4. Mr. Podunkian Says:

actually the original streemerz was literally impossible to beat, so this is, in fact, a much easier game.

  5. The Skeep Says:

Loved it, hard but beatable with some practice. Your Derek Yu obsession is starting to get a little creepy though…

  6. Mr. Podunkian Says:

    my derek what

  7. BC Says:

157 deaths and 41751 points. Beat that.

I told you my deaths would be triple digit.

  8. Sparn Says:

Oh boy, I cannot wait to STREEM some streemerz all over~

  9. Sparn Says:

annnd, that’s a wrap. Weighing in at… 39849 points, 189 deaths, and about an hour of gametime.

    >: About fifty were in one room, unfortunately.

  10. coreymill Says:

I already commented a bit about my love of this game over on the indiegames blog, but thought I would leave a reply here as well.

First time through I managed a score of 57067, not sure how many deaths, but pretty sure it was over 100.

Played through the game a second time playing under ‘time trial’ … not sure that it actually did anything though. Didn’t seem to actually save my time, at least it’s not shown on the screen like my previous score is.

Stats for my second time through (first time trial run) were:

    Score: 41381
    Deaths: 29
    Time: 00:16:01:12

TONS of room for improvement there. Someone show me up!

  11. Mr. Podunkian Says:

time attack should display your ingame time in the upper left corner of the screen (instead of score), and skip all cutscenes. also the ‘highscore’ display on the top of the screen changes to your highest time in time attack mode. i’m hoping this stuff happened when you selected the mode.

  12. Mr. Podunkian Says:

it’s good to hear you enjoyed it though! i’ll try to give time attack a runthrough sometime soon too, though i’m obviously a little burned out from playing the game, seeing as i’ve been working on this for 2 weeks straight now (^:

  13. coreymill Says:

Ah, nope … none of that happened actually. Would have made my time much better if it would have skipped all of the cutscenes.

However, just tried to do a time attack once again and it seems to work fine. So now I am not sure if it was actually the games fault or if I had inadvertently selected the wrong mode.

Oh well, new score 52695, 9 Deaths, 00:09:14:78

  14. sphrog Says:

    this is increadibal

  15. rdein Says:

    some typos, podunkian:
    readme-> ACTION 51 Game (A52 duh)
    poison.txt i think -> V5-15D (should be V6)

  16. Zzz Says:

    finish the underside

  17. ortoslon Says:

    playthrough http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jScgtLmzrFU

  18. Frampis Says:

This game is awesome. The Cheetah Men II music in the last level is a nice touch. I just beat the time attack mode in 23:21:42 with 98 deaths and 25178 points.

this is pretty much the best you’re gonna see anyone do in this game, ever.

  20. Mr. Podunkian Says:

just finished a run on TIME ATTACK. my time was 8:38:02, with 9 deaths. TRY TO BEAT ME IF YOU CAN!

  21. coreymill Says:

    You got it Podunkian.

    Time: 06:14:56
    Deaths: 1

  22. Chatto Says:

    SCORE : 40256
    DEATHS : 32
    TIME : 00:13:51:80

    My personal high score :D

  23. Chatto Says:

This should be the official version…
Also , i just saw coreymill’s video , everything was performed perfect , except the single death. :P

  24. R13 Says:

Sweet game, great NESish feeling overall, difficult but not insane level, some jokes inside (“Fffffuuuuu-” and “Cavanagh Tank” :D )… Awesome!

  25. MisterX Says:

I always did the spot where you died, the last time you have to jump over pies, by somehow grappling at the red blocks above you. I thought that was the intended way to do it, though I didn’t understand why it worked at all. Maybe because there are blue blocks in the screen above them?

Are any money bags hidden really, really well? In coreymill’s video, in the room at 1:05, I thought there must be a way to the left side, through this tunnel with the bombs, and probably money hidden there. It looks like it should be possible to get there, but I couldn’t do it and eventually gave up.

Also, why do so many screens have open sides, which look like ways to other screens, but are actually just walls? It was very confusion on the first run, since often it’s not clear where you have to go. I guess that it’s intentional, but it seems weird.

  26. Mr. Podunkian Says:

there are 16 moneybags, but a last minute addition to the stats page made the collected moneybag count invisible… a patch to address this’ll be out soon.

  27. BigLord Says:

I love you so much for creating this game.

By the way, you were featured on GoNintendo, man!

    http://www.gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=123546

My chin dropped when I read that.

  28. Mr. Podunkian Says:

awesome! hopefully, this’ll get more exposure for the ACTION 52 OWNS project, which my game is a small part of. i’ve added a link to the project in the post. a lot of amazing projects are coming out of it.

  29. Bob Says:

    *Holds right*
    *Holds left*

Otherwise, it’s pretty solid man. What about the rest of the games though? Are the Tigsourcers still finishing them all, or are you just compiling it all into one package as I type?

  30. ortoslon Says:

as of v1.3, you haven’t corrected “former steemerz alliance” in joe’s dialogue

  31. Sparn Says:

Did another run trying to get all the money bags. Missed the one right before the giant drop from the tower, because I thought I could climb back up from the bottom after a save point.

so instead I climbed up the side of the tower 4-5 levels until I reached a pie throwing clown and managed to get killed by him, respawning back up top. so I got the bag anyhow.

Final score of 62219~ Not sure if that means I got ‘em all.

  32. Club Penguin Says:

Interesting stuff. I’ve played that before and it’s pretty good. What are your favorite games? I’ve been playing a lot of Halo Reach lately.

  33. ortoslon Says:

    all money collected http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaAwM5XEVK0

  34. arnpoly Says:

Finally able to play this! This is my kind of game.
    Score: 56816
    Deaths: 117
Time: 35:28 (probably closer to 50 min)
    Money: 13/16

  35. whatever Says:

Add me to the “really enjoyed this” camp.

Friend couldn’t play it though; he got the “endlessly falling” glitch a couple people mentioned on the d/l page (he launches the .exe and it’s just a black background with the main character falling endlessly; you can move left and right and grapple while this is happening). Any chance of this getting identified/fixed? He’s running Vista, don’t know if that’s typically problematic with MMF games…

  36. Mr. Podunkian Says:

has he tried running it in windows 95/XP compatibility mode?

  37. Bob Says:

    You’re letting increpare make CM?

Wow…just wow. That better not be disappointingly indie, and more to the caliber that CM deserves.

  38. anon Says:

you should work on a sequel for this game! so awesome

  39. BillyBob Says:

Is that some Soyobon Action music I hear near the end? dongs.exe will live forever in our hearts.

  40. Breaduil Says:

This is probably my favorite indie game, ever. It’s everything I liked about Bionic Commando, only…. different. In some alternate reality, Action 52 Owns is the actual Action 52. In this reality, the Cheetahmen franchise is rivaled only by the Mario franchise.

…. actually regardless of how awesome this is, fifteen years of Cheetahmen games is too much of a horror to make up for the idea of having this on my NES.

  41. Buster R Says:

I feel rather proud about my time attack ranking.

    Score: 55817
    Deaths: 3
    Time 07:06:50

This was truly an awesome game. =D

  42. Zeph Says:

Hey, great game you got here and I’ve played it through multiple times, but one thing that always eventually made it into my mind was how fun it would be with multiplayer. Either competitive multiplayer where you race through stages ala the final boss, or cooperative multiplayer where you need multiple people to progress through the game (maybe through switches and such ala LoZ: Four Swords Adventures). Another thing that would be a nice feature would be a level editor, maybe with a way to export your levels and import other’s levels.

    Cheers.

  43. hado Says:

This game is the best game ever made.

  44. Physical Therapy Assistant Salary Says:
